Campaign guide — chapters, stamina, Sweep, enemy intel and how to get past a wall

The campaign is the spine of Tales of Ascension. Every stage pays Cultivation toward your next breakthrough, chapter bosses drop the pill shards that open new realms, and most systems unlock as your Sect Master climbs. This guide covers how stages, stamina and Sweep work, and what to do when a stage will not fall.

At a glance

Chapters and bosses

Each chapter belongs to a realm, and its enemies get stronger stage by stage. The final stage of a chapter is a boss fight, and chapter bosses are where the breakthrough pill shards drop. When your Cultivation bar is full but you lack pills, replay the boss of the chapter that drops them. The cultivation guide lists which chapter drops which shard.

Clearing a new stage pays the most Cultivation. Older stages still pay, which is what Sweep is for.

Stamina

The Black Market Gold tab sells Restoring Pills with a weekly limit. There is no raw stamina for sale.

Sweep

From Qi Refining Layer 8, a stage you have cleared can be swept: the rewards come at once, without playing the fight. A sweep costs the same stamina and pays 75% of the Cultivation of a played fight. Use it on old stages while you wait for a stronger team.

Cultivation per fight also tapers off after a long session and recovers over a few hours. Many short sessions through the day earn more than one marathon.

Read the enemy before you fight

Tap a stage to open its detail sheet. Intel lists every enemy: their element, skills, cooldowns and traits, plus a Bring hint for the element that counters them and the one to avoid. One or two disciples swapped for the right element often decide a fight. See the Five Elements guide.

Losing is not wasted

The first time you lose on a stage you have not cleared yet, you get 10 Gear Bags. The second loss gives 10 Seal Pouches. Each gift comes once per character and takes you straight to where you open them, because new gear and seals are usually what you were missing. See the gear guide.

Stage Records

The Records button on each stage shows two boards for your server: the three Earliest clears and the three wins with the Lowest Power. Each comes with a replay. If you are stuck, watch how someone with a weaker team did it: their line-up and element choices are right there.

When you hit a wall

Push until a stage beats you twice in a row, then stop retrying and fix the team. The fix is usually one of these:

  1. Wrong element. Check the intel and swap in the counter element.
  2. Unused upgrades. Open your Gear Bags, socket Spirit Seals, level the Flying Sword, spend Martial Arts Pills and star up your main disciples. See the stars and Rebirth guide.
  3. A breakthrough is due. A new realm raises the Sect Master and every team bonus tied to realm.
  4. Formation. Tanks in front, carries behind. A disciple who dies first in every replay belongs somewhere else.

Meanwhile, sweep old stages, run the Secret Realm, the Endless Tower and the daily dungeons. All of them feed the same team. The first-week guide covers the early order.

FAQ

Is it worth replaying old stages?

Yes, for Cultivation and chapter boss shards. Sweep them once you can.

Why does a stage feel harder after I break through?

It does not. Enemy strength is fixed by the stage, never by your realm or power.
